Jinki glanced up as he stared at the male standing in front of him, the wind rustling through their hair as he gave a slight smirk. There were nights when he wasn’t sure exactly what had made him decide to run away with Jonghyun. There were times were he just wanted to pack his things and run back home. Then sun rose and he saw that foolish grin on Jonghyun’s face greeting him in the morning, like the one he was wearing now as he played photographer, all doubts were once again laid to rest. He shook his head slowly; tilting his head back down as he went back to reading the map, trying to figure out exactly where the hell Jonghyun’s driving had landed them. They had half a tank of gas left and the countryside extended in all directions without end. He let out of quiet sigh as he scratched at his head and turned to put a false glare on his lover.

“Yah! This is why I don’t let you drive. I have no idea where we are.”

It almost broke his heart to watch that puppy grin fall away to a pout as the younger man scuffed his shoes against the concrete. He knew Jonghyun felt bad about it and he hadn’t actually meant to hurt his feelings like that. He closed his eyes and mentally berated himself, placing the map on the driver’s seat and walking forward to pull the shorter male into his arms. Strong arms found their way around his waist as Jonghyun hid his face in Jinki’s neck. Jonghyun could be such an ass at times, but it was these quiet moments that made him know he was loved. The sun continued its fiery path across the sky as they stood there, swaying slightly to the sound of their heartbeats slowly syncing up. Escape from society; love each other without having to worry about what their parents would say. This was why Jinki had agreed to pile their things into the trunk of his minivan and just drive.

He pulled free from the hug and turned to pick up the map again, shifting some as Jonghyun tilted his head to look at the map with him. The younger male lifted a finger and pointed along the road, face contorted in concentration. Jinki smirked softly, always amused when Jonghyun actually attempted to use his brain. He had to lean back quickly as brown hair whipped around, feeling his body shoved into the driver seat. He hated it when Jonghyun got excited like this, watching as he slid across the hood, and fell, getting into the passenger seat and pointing ahead.

“It’s up ahead. There’s a small town up ahead. We should be able to make it and spend a few days.”

“Are you sure? The last time you said something was up ahead we drove around lost for five hours.”

Jonghyun placed the pout on his face, the one that made Jinki want to kiss him senseless, and let out a low grumble. There was a whirlwind about to start, so Jinki simply started the car and started driving to appease the man next to him. He was so whipped. He played with the radio, finding a song they both knew. Jonghyun’s hand moved over to rest on top of his, fingers intertwining as soft smiles were shared. It didn’t matter to him if they never really found that town or not. He was content with watching the sun rise and fall, the endless expanse of Korean countryside in front of them as they searched for something that may or may not even be there.

“I’m glad you decided to leave with me.” Jonghyun’s voice was quiet as he played with Jinki’s hand, pretending to break and reattach his fingers. Jinki glanced over at him; eyebrow raised in question as the younger man simply shrug and continued his silent game. He was glad he came as well. There was nothing really back there for him in Seoul except stress and the high expectations of his parents and teachers. To hang out with a slacker like Kim Jonghyun was one thing for them but to fall madly head over heels, literally, for him was a completely different thing. It was a forbidden love from the start but it was the one thing Jinki had did without caring what his parents thought.

“Wouldn’t miss out on something like this.” Jinki’s response was even as he reached his hand out and lightly tangled his fingers into the back of Jonghyun’s hair. The kiss was quick but filled with more words than either of them could put voice to. They were young and they were in love. Everyone always said that love was the greatest adventure anyone could ever embark on. Though Jinki wasn’t sure what would be the best thing about this, the wonderful journey he was going on with Jonghyun or the destination.

“Do you know what we’re really looking for Jinki?” The question pulled him from his thoughts as he glanced at Jonghyun and shook his head. Other than a motel to stay for the night and a diner to eat cheap greasy burgers in, he wasn’t really sure where Jonghyun was going with this. Probably something cheesy that would make him grown but secretly smile on the inside. That was his specialty.

“A paradise where we can be together forever.”

Jinki let out a low groan and shook his head as Jonghyun burst out into laughter. That’s the last time they listen to that pop station on the radio but, sure enough, a smile broke out on his face as he laced fingers with Jonghyun once more.

“Sounds perfect.”
