So, I woke up at 5:30 this morning with an upset stomach and starting watching The World Series of Poker on ESPN, as you do, until it was time to get ready for work. 1.)Jensen is an idiot.
2.)Jensen is the luckiest dumbass on the planet.
3.)Jensen really is a fucking idiot.
“What the hell happened?” Jared demands, shouldering his way through the Ollie crew to see Jensen laying on the ground, body still and pale.
Danneel looks up first, giggle bubbling over before she can stop it with a hand to her mouth.
Jared has a hard time finding the humor in Jensen's various injuries, so he just rests his hands on his hips and asks, “Somethin' funny?”
A hand smacks his back and Jared jumps a little when Mike tugs on the ends of his hair. “Nice hat.” He smirks before asking, “You Santa or one of the elves?”
Balling his fists at his sides, Jared fights the urge to punch all of them and calms himself with a deep breath. He could explain that Sandy bought them for everyone in the shop and he was clowning with Chad when he got Danneel's text that Jensen had fallen and wasn't moving. Instead, he asks, “Somebody wanna tell me what the fuck happened to my boyfriend?”
Jensen blinks, eyes squinting as he tries to bring the scene above him into focus. “Santa?”
“Fucking hell,” Jared growls, falling to his knees at Jensen's side. “The fuck did you do to yourself this time?”
Rolling his head along the ground, Jensen lets out a long moan. “I fell.” He runs a hand over his face and blinks again. “You been workin' out?” His voice is shaky; Jared can tell he doesn't know what's going on yet but that he'll probably be okay.
“You're gonna kill yourself one of these days,” he predicts, hand pressing against Jensen's chest when he tries to sit. “Just, don't move for a minute, okay?” Now that he's sure Jensen has dodged another bullet, he lets himself chuckle and breathe a little easier.
“Jenny, you okay?” Mike asks, pushing off of the sales counter to bend into Jensen's eye line.
Jensen just stares in response but refuses Mike's hand when he offers it. “Santa told me to stay put,” he explains, tongue trailing his dry lips, his face a blank mask of naivete.
Unable to hold back, Jared barks a loud laugh and shakes his head, leaning against the counter at his back. “Oh, my god, you're the dumbest fuck I've ever met.”
Jensen's lips purse as he struggles to sit. Eyes clearing, he leans up to rip the Santa hat from Jared's head. “You're an asshole.”
Conceding with a nod, Jared clears the laughter from his throat. “I'm not the one who stayed on the ground 'cause Santa told him to,” he points out.
“Fuck you,” is Jensen's reply.
Jared can't really blame him for the lame comeback; Jensen's kind of an idiot sometimes. But there's one other thing that Jared knows, unequivocally: Jensen is his family and that trumps everything else.
