Kris stayed in Eau Claire last night due to auditions for the movie he wrote and will be directing. I can't recall how long he's been working on the script, but it seems like forever. He finally finished it, and he and the producer/graphic designer/animator started auditioning for parts. I am so proud of him for finishing something. At the same time, it sucks because once they start filming, this will happen pretty much every weekend. It's not that I mind going to bed alone, it's just strange when I wake up and he's not here. Luckily, he's coming home this afternoon, so life will return to normal in that respect.
To make things a little more empty around here, I had to drop Teva off at the vet this morning. She's due for some vaccinations and a check up on her leg and ear infection. I'm also having her microchipped today. It's amazing how much different the energy is when she's not here. Who would have thought that a dog could make home feel like, well, home.
And I never thought I'd say this, but thank goodness for the cold weather. It slowed down the crest of the river in Fargo, which means that my dad's house is still safe for now. The old neighborhood we lived in wasn't damaged quite as badly as everyone initially thought, because they got the breach contained before the water completely engulfed everything (not to say that it escaped entirely--the house is still under some water). My great-aunt's neighborhood in Moorhead is under alert--they evacuated three blocks away from her, but for now she's all right. I am SO relieved that things aren't as bad as they looked yesterday, and I hope against all hope that everything holds out the way it is right now.
