So, over the course of the last several weeks, I've discovered an amusing thing as relates to dieting.
When
last_bastion and I have been around people dieting, we've always tried to be mindful of them when it came to what we ate, and where. This is probably in large part because both
last_bastion and I view sharing a meal with friends as an important part of community. One should be conscientious of everyone's needs as far as the experience is involved so that everyone can get the most out of it.
Now that we're dieting, we've noticed how much people who aren't dieting don't seem to register the fact that you're really watching what you're eating.
The friends who simply don't register that you're dieting... and make the "Doh!" face when you politely turn down the double chocolate glazed brownies that their wife brought in... apologizing profusely for sticking that kind of sugary sweet fat laden temptation under your nose....
And the friends who really do remember that you're on the diet. They do... and they want to talk you into going out to lunch with them... or dinner... at places you can't reasonably afford on your diet.
Today, I got to hear such amusing conversation between
last_bastion and one of our friends. It went something like this....
Friend: Pizza Hut?
Bastion: ... we're going to dinner with you at Buffalo Wild Wings. Pizza Hut for lunch is right out.
Friend: But its pizza.
Bastion: We're saving for dinner. We can't.
Half an hour later....
Friend: You sure? Last chance!
Bastion: No.
Friend: I bet they have pasta!
Bastion: *silence... inferring the 'get out of my office' look*
After the friend departs....
Me: Pizza, huh?
Bastion: I told him he was working on the wrong person...
Me: That's okay... wouldn't have worked on me either. I'm getting pizza in the near future and I know it.
*shakes her head in amusement*
Raen.
