In which I learn the meaning of blind date

Wednesday:

Chris the co-worker: Hey excited about your blind date?

Me: Waitaminute, first of all how do you even know about it? Second, it's not a blind date...I think...

Chris: Well what is it then?

Me: Well...we've been talking through Facebook for a couple weeks so we're meeting for the first time today...

Enter Monica the co-worker: Yeah...that's pretty much a blind date...

Me: ...oh.

I love office gossip, but not when *I'm* the gossip. Damnit. In my defense he didn't think of it as a blind date either. So there.

After work the majority of who I work with went to Sapporo for a last happy hour with Selena, who is leaving for Alaska. This makes me very sad. And very cold. Afterwards I met up with Sam, her boyfriend Louie, and Andy aka the "blind date" at Sunsplash, played games (okay 1 game), ate pizza (well not really for me since I just had sushi), etc. I know I didn't do much but that was okay for me since most of the time was spent talking with the dude. He seems like a nice guy, definitely someone I would be friends with at least. Would he be able to pass the friend zone? Too early to tell. Doesn't really help that he lives in Davis and gets around like a true Davisian aka by bike.

...

I've been watching a lot of American tv shows lately. First of all, Supernatural is an awesome show. Selena was awesome enough to take the time to burn season 2 for me, despite the fact that the protection makes the burning take 2 hours for each disc (!!) And I want to just breeze through my Dexter season 1 set. A show about a murderer with a conscience and works as a blood-splatter analyst (does that position really exist?) in the Miami police force? Awesome. And I'm definitely hunting down the novels when I get the chance.
