Loli-pop, Loli-pop ooh loli-loli-loli

I'm never going to volunteer for an event like that again.

Today was the grand opening of VIZ Pictures new building New People which houses a gallery, 4 boutiques/stores of Japanese fashion (mostly of the lolita side) and a theater. The volunteer email was going around VIZ during my last day as an intern and I decided to do it.

All I can say is, everything was pretty disorganized: No one really told me how people were supposed to get in with the tickets, the AC broke down on the 2nd floor which is where the stores and the lolis were, and the credit card machines were broken so I spent my last shift going up and down the stairs to the other cashiers where they were able to charge the cards. Ugh. Then again, I was planning to go to SF by myself, but at the last minute some of my friends said they were able to go so that just made me want to just hang out with them haha. Also, I didn't know how much stuff was going on! At least I got to see Nick and Shar too.

Well, I guess the good news is that Aug. 15 is officially Japanese pop culture day or something like that and it's going to become an annual festival-thing in Japantown. That's what I heard anyway from my supervisor.

Random conversation: I was talking to one of the architects of the building and during this time he asked me what high school I was going to. I'm still not sure if I should be insulted or flattered.

japan town, work
