I'm feeling sublime. Other than glancing through old entries and wincing at all the careless spelling errors. This entry will probably be no better, seeing as I've gotten 6 hours of sleep in the past two (strenuous) days and the keyboard on Sayre's craptop has it out for me.
I just spent the entire day with 150 little girl scouts. It was... an experience. My friend Lauren took me to the Campus Girl Scouts meeting (ex girlscouts who arrange activities and such for younger generations) where they indoctrinated me into the fold after I said I would do storytime at Girl Fun Day.
What does this mean, exactly? It means that I have no right to be feeling sublime... but it was actually really fun. Myself and two other girls acted out Rainbow Fish, (one of my favorite books as a little one!) complete with games like Starfish Says (Simon Says) and Find the Cave (the Parachute game). I was the Octopus and the Starfish... and I did a LOT of yelling. Not because the girls were misbehaving but because it was extremely noisy. The entire day transported me back to summers of yesteryear, where I actually went to camp and did fun things like go on scavenger hunts, play telephone around a campfire, sing songs and get bitten by a spider so bad that my calf swelled up at least an inch. Not that we did any of those things today; I was just reminded of them. ALSO, the foliage in Washington is SO COOL. I think it's temperate rainforest or summat like that where we went, because there all the honkin' old trees with moss coating them, ferns everywhere, swampland... I was used to Seattle-esque greenery, aka pine tree overload. But all the old deciduous trees at the camp were glorious, not like the skinny things most places in Connecticut that replaced all the old farmland.
In fact despite my exhaustion my time has just been getting better, starting from a low point Friday morning (for those who don't know I currently work the early morning preload shift at UPS; this means I load trucks from 4 AM to 8:30 AM 5 days a week) when I came in two hours late for work because I missed my bus because I left my cell phone (which functions as my alarm clock) on the bus the previous day. Smaaart. So I was really pressed for time and ended up leaving my drivers with clusterfucked trucks. I felt bad, until the coworker that gave me a ride home (she's awesome, gave me green M&Ms and told me about how the entire side of her face got completely obliterated and had to be reconstructed at one point and how accident prone she is - how she survives at UPS is beyond me) told me they get paid 35$ an hour.
I randomly encountered Micki(/Rouge) in the Quad (for those that don't know, the big grassy center of campus with cherry blossom trees that I am excited to watch bloom this spring) and we proceeded to have a delightful lunch full of squees! and teasings on my part, D&D overall, and a bunch of random topics including lying, the biochemical composition of cartilage and Japan. Oh yes.
Sayre also brightened my day by stealing me for all of 30 seconds as we crossed ways in front of my dorm... he was heading to the bus stop diagonal from mine.
The REAL delight, however, was going to Blues Underground because - my God - I haven't been out dancing in how long? This is what I get for having a stupidly houred job, but there you have it. It felt SO GOOD. Uh. (That was the funky, soulful, James Brown-esque "uh".) It took me a little while to get back into the groove and feel the connection, but I could feel myself beaming and by the end of the night I was SO ON. One of the better nights I've ever had dancing.
And so I came back, hung in Lander 7 for a bit and went to sleep for 3 hours before getting up at 6:30 to go to Girl Fun Day. XDDD Oh yes. Score one for the Rae.
And that... has been my past two days! I felt it was time to update this thing... and now, toodles! Time for me to get some sleep.
