My computer is broken- not sick, BROKEN. I didn't even do anything to it, either- it has just been freezy and then not booting for a while, and so I wiped it thinking it might have a virus. Reinstalled, it did the same thing. Now dad's up there trying to fix it, mostly cursing at it for freezing in the middle of installation ( Read more... )

sounds like a problem with the RAM and the memory battery. though i'm quite out of my mind so my guess could be waaaayyyyy off.

Throw it out the window and film it.

No really, check a) that the heatsink is correctly seated b)that all the power plugs are in c) replace the power supply with one from a working computer d)reset the BIOS e) check that battery thing like ^^ they said f) boot Knoppix and run memtest86 for a few hours.

Failing that, get me and Ben together to fix it.
