Home Again

Ooof.

So this is the first time I've really had the energy to write. It's been a tiring last couple of days.

First off, I did not make it home on the 16th. My connecting flight from Boston to Chicago was missed because my flight from Dublin to Boston was delayed. Meant I got to spend 11 hrs in the airport psuedo-sleeping until I could catch an early flight out the next morning. (Cold and uncomfortable are the words that come to mind, hehe)

Got into Chicago to find my dad, his fiancee and Shorty waiting for me. I'd had a little panic attack the day before trying to figure out how to get ahold of my dad to tell him I wasn't going to make it in. (My house phone, for whatever weird reason, doesn't accept collect calls, so I had to call Shorty's house and Alli's house to give them the message to relay to someone at my house...luckily my dad's fiancee was in the house that day.)

It was so good to see them, and so nice to be home. I had a million first impressions that kinda all bombarded me, but they were little things...nothing too major. So far, the transition has been really easy aside from some rather serious jet lag, haha.

We got back to the house after a 1.5 hr car ride (so my total time in transit from Sevilla to home was probably 35 hrs), at which point I jumped in the shower, changed into something nice and ran off to two weddings. (All I can is EXHAUSTING).

Dan and Cristina's was beautiful, and I saw many friends there (Katrina, Beth, Allison, Jeff, Dawn and James, James W [but only from afar...I didn't get to talk to him 'cause he didn't come to the reception...he was with his gf, Amy], Brianna, Pastor Hall, Bri's parents, Alli's mom, and several other more-acquaintance-than-friend types...and of course, Dan and Cristina.)

Sandie's wedding was out in a park in Niles (it was hot, I was walking on heels in the grass, I was less than impressed :P). She looked really pretty, although rather grumped out I think for it being as hot as it was. (I would have died if I'd have been in the dress she was in). I got to see the little guy (Kaleb..I think she spelled it with a "K", but I could be wrong). He's gotten SO big!! It's crazy! Her mom and her sisters were also there, all of them looking much better than the last time I'd seen any of them. Her mom is going to school for nursing, Lacey is going into JobCore (for either nursing or to be a security guard), and Randie (ooh, spelling?) is looking good too. :) I was glad to see that.

By the time we left and I got home again, I was wiped out. My bro and I spent some time talking, but about 9:30pm I was just so tired I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer.

Yesterday was kinda funny just because of how my body reacted. It woke me up at 9:30am telling me "YOU MUST EAT!" ... and once I fed it an apple, it was like "YOU MUST SLEEP NOW!" It did the same thing at 12:30, and finally I actually woke up at 3pm. :P

Took Dad to see Pirates...it was nice to go to the movies with just him and my bro. The fiancee wasn't around yesterday (thank goodness...maybe she gets the concept of giving me some space to ease back into things). She seems nice enough, but I don't think she'll ever be part of the family for my bro or I. We've just had enough, I think. She makes Dad happy, and that's coool, but that's about as far as we take it.

This morning I check my e-mail, and Beni has written me. I was so happy for that. I'll write him back a little later, but I'm just glad that ... I'm just glad everything ended as it did and that our friendship truly is going to endure. There was a time when I thought I'd lost both his friendship and Jose's, and it was a horrible feeling because they were the two friendships I'd put the most effort into during my time in Spain. But I left Spain with both friendships very much intact and the good-byes said in the best of ways. And so I'm content.

*Yawns* I am going back to being curled up in my bed, catching up with books and movies I've been missing for a year. *Laughs* Much love to all, thanks for the well-wishes, and more to follow!

EDIT-11:10am: I'm talking to Jose on MSN and laughing soooo hard. He's telling me that I can't show any "ugly" pictures to my friends, and I'm like, "But none of them are ugly!" And we're just both laughing ('cause I told him I was actually laughing out loud and he replied that he was, too). He just cracks me up. I'm gonna miss him soooo much...no, I already miss him so much. But I'm so glad we can talk via MSN!
