Soooo I was looking through class options, and it occurred to me that I might indeed be able to triple-major...AND do a research paper (which I wouldn't have had time to do for Anthro)?
I have a LOT of discussing to do with advisors when I go home, but looking at it now, I could potentially triple major as follows:
1. Anthropology
2. Spanish
3. Latin American & Caribbean Studies
I could minor in LACS, but a major wouldn't be all that hard if my classes will cross-list, and they SHOULD since a great number of my Anthro ones for the up-coming semester are in the direction of my interest (Latin America), and if I'm lucky they might even count some of my courses from studying abroad here. (I have done a LOT of South American literature reading here...)
...I think it could be done, I think it could be done. Tecnically, I think I complete my Anthro major as of this coming semester. That means that my last semester would be rather lax, but the nice thing about the LACS thesis paper is they expect you to do it in the final semester of your senior year (whereas I get the feeling that you're meant to work a year's time on the Anthro paper, and my next semester won't allow me to do that).
Why, you ask? Basically to say to the world that I have specific interests. Anthro and Spanish are very general. The three combined look rather killer to me.
I know another girl who is triple-majoring (though I think she's taking 5 yrs to do it because she wants to study abroad more).
The biggest issue is the research paper. Most of the pre-steps take place Jr year (like thinking on a topic, talking with faculty/advisors)...and not having taken a LACS class yet, I have't a connection with any one teacher.
Then again, I could do two majors and a minor...that wouldn't be the end of the world...
It's just a thought, but I'll store it away here to ponder over more later.
