It started as a normal choir experience... choir practice, then out for a copa with the girls (the Erasmus girls [Laura, Alyce, Sara]...the American girls always have to return to their casas to eat, and then they tend to go out later...although I think tonight only Giselle was planning to go out...Sarah had to get up for a morning class). [Note: I just realized that I spell the American "Sarah" with an "h" and the English "Sara" without one, and I really have no idea if that is correct or not...I just do it that way. :P] So we went to our normal "copa" spot, which is the bar next to La Moneda ... and for the life of me, I can never remember it's name. It's where we went last week, though.
Anyways, it was me and the girls from Inglaterra (Britain England) [for the sticklers out there :P]. We thought Beni might join us, but he had said earlier that he was tired, and I received a text message from him saying he wasn't going to make it but that he'd see us on Saturday for the barbecue. :) So I was all like, "Bummer", 'cause Beni's a funny guy, and makes me laugh... but I love my choir girls (Laura is sooo nice), and we had a good time and some excellent food & wine.
Now after the fact, I usually head home, because I'm tired and it's usually around midnight by the time we get done with the copa. But this time when they invited me out, I decided to go with them to meet up with their friends and go to a nearby bar/club thing. Laura had brought her friend, Jenna (who is studying for a year in Barcelona but is visiting Sevilla) to choir, and we met up with their friend Serenda ...she is from Germany. She knows Lindsey...same Lit class, I think. Then we met up with Sara's (and Laura's) friends, Pepe (un Sevilliano) and Simi, another German girl (she and I hit it off...she's black, speaks rather good English, loves hip-hop music... we had a blast talking it up). We headed off toward Alfalfa to get chupitos!!
There is a great bar over there that has 1-2 euro shots!! It's amazing! (And watch me never be able to find it again. :P) But we all got shots, did the whole "arriba, abajo, al centro, ADENTRO!!" thing, which I love. (Motions and words that you say and do before taking the shot... different then in the States where we just kinda salute each other with the shot glasses, then pour it back. :P) I, of course, did vodka, while some others did tequila, and the rest did fruity drinks. But here came the best part of my night: Pepe's friend arrived.
Ok, this guy is the new winner of the trophy for best looking Sevilliano I have seen yet. Yep, I'm sorry, Jordi has been ousted. (Jordi still has a high ranking, but this guy took him off the top.) Spanish-white (which we all know is not the same thing as English-white, German-white, American-white... Spanish-white tans, first off. :P Unlike, say, American-white where most often the guys burn. :P), mid-to-late 20s, scruffy (he hadn't shaved in a day or two, which on most guys is a turn off but it really worked for this one), a great smile, Jared-Leto-"Bury Me"-type hair but BETTER...less emo, more brown, very natural and European. And since you all know I HATE the bad Spanish hair that most of the guys walk around in, it was soooo nice to see someone with good hair walking up into the place. Now, I was rather content to just have eye-candy because he seemed mostly interested in talking to Serenda, but at the same time I found him to be funny!
Well, then I couldn't help but flirt. I'm sorry, if I like your personality AND you look good...*shrugs*. [Plus, I haven't flirted in forever...most guys here are so shady.] We moved on to another bar down the way, where the others got drinks (and I helped Simi finish her tinto de verano), but as I knew we were about to go dancing I didn't want to get any more alcohol.
So let's skip ahead, past many jokes, much flirting, many good convos with Simi, etc, to when we go to Elefunk. It's a bit behind Plaza de Toros...Arnel-way. Decent music (I don't even know how to classify it...wasn't hip-hop, but some rather good popular dance songs [not so much techno but rather the real genre "dance"]) and lots of space for dancing, plus bar.
This was so great. To be out dancing with the girls...that was just fun in itself. But then to discover Pepe's friend, who I believe was called Jose, can't dance...hahah, what fun! Total white guy. :P Diane, you would have gotten a kick out of it, though he was experienced enough to know he couldn't dance and didn't proceed to do anything as horrifying as the White Man Bob. He'd move now and again, but mostly he sat on a stool near the table we were dancing nearby, and chatted it up with Pepe or those of us who stopped dancing to take a bit of a break. He is the first guy who being near them (I'm talking Spanish Proximity, which is a whole 'nother thing) didn't creep me out. He was just easy-going, humorous, could laugh at himself, could laugh at/with me, could talk reasonably well in English (which means we communicated rather nicely because some of my more humorous comments didn't translate...I probably won't master Spanish humor even with being here a year), flirted with ease (he asked if I was ticklish, I asked if he was...we both are ^_~. Hehehe). It was also cool because at the same time he was still chatting it up with Serenda, so I didn't feel like we took up much of each other's time... you know what I mean by that? Like I never felt like I didn't get enough dancing 'cause I was chatting with him [aka that he was taking up too much of my time] or that I was taking too much of his by stopping now and again to chat with him, give him a hard time about not dancing, etc. Very chill.
We exchanged numbers, and though I have a feeling that Serenda will get the call, I'm not bummed. It'd be nice to see him again... like if he comes out with our group again one of these times. If he calls, that'd be cool, too. But it's not like he's not busy. He's graduated, and es quimico (which he made sound like it's hellza boring :P). This weekend he's off for Granada and next weekend he's in ...where, Holland? But eh, who knows? I'll just keep doing my thing and let whatever happens, happen. :) As my aunt would say, "It is what it is". And it will be what it will be. ;)
So it's 6:30am now...I got home an hour ago, but I stopped to write this and talk to a friend on IMs. :P I kinda get the feeling I'm not gonna make it to Teatro tomorrow...nor that I'm gonna get up before lunch. :P But tomorrow night I'm partying it up with my program peeps!!! More dancing the night away, this time with my new outfit (well, the shirt is new...and I just got the pants in a package from home...man, I missed them). And then Saturday is the barbecue with the choir and Beni and ...yeah, goodness all around!!
I'm livin' it up and lovin' it. Laterz, peeps. :)
