Best Part About Today

What could it be? Aside from finishing my paper for Democracy class?

Oooh, here's what it was: So after the small choir concert we had tonight (apparently today is the Festival of Music or something like that in Sevilla), I went out with my choir friends for a copa. Obstensibly, it was to talk about plans for this weekend and next weekend, but also it was just a great excuse to hang out with everyone. Pretty much everyone in the choir ended up in the same bar, though we were split into three semi-large groups. There are a lot of girls in the group I hang out with (those from England, Germany, Netherlands, USA, etc). But what was great is that we were sitting with Beni (Benito...Italian-sounding, eh?) y.... what was the name of the other guy? Alberto? But everyone calls him Illo. (Apparently it's really popular in Sevilla because when he called "Illo" to the other table near us, all the guys turned and looked. It was great.

But seriously, I love spending time with Beni. He's like ... I dunno, he HAS to be in his late 20s, early 30s, but he's relatively handsome, has a fun personality, has a million friends, knows quite a bit of English (we kinda "fight" about it...he's always trying to talk to me in English, and I always reply in Spanish something to the effect of "I understand you in Spanish!" It's 'cause both of us want to practice off the other.) It's just great to be around people that you can just laugh with and be completely relaxed with. Alberto told us all about his botellon-lifestyle (not getting home until 7:30am or later), about all kinds of things...I don't know, I can't even remember. It was all so interesting but so related to the moment that I didn't retain it well. (Two cups de vino might have helped that. :P) And Beni keeps talking about how he's going to Cuba in March or April (and my friend Laura, from England, is going over there, too, to teach English), and I keep exclaiming, "I want to go!" And Beni's like, "You should come! You can be my wife!" And I'm like, "Problem of passport. :P" It's just so much fun to be ridiculous and silly and sometimes even humorous in another language. :P

Now that I'm dragging my new camera around everywhere, I got some pics of the choir members and a short video, too. I plan to ask one of my friends to take pics of me at either the Dec. 15 or 16 concert. The one today was really small, and not important (I mean, it was plain-clothes for crying out loud).

So now I'm feeling really good, which is a good thing because I have to be up for class in the morning... and then the Thanksgiving Dinner with the group!! I'm looking forward to that. And then I wonder if any of us are going to do stuff tomorrow night?

This weekend Beni may call some of us up to go have a copa together. Oh, and I told Sara from coro (one of the couple of American girls that I know in choir) that I'm around this weekend, and she said she'd call if anything was going down this weekend, which would be hellza fun...I love her and Giselle). And next weekend it looks like there's a barbecoa (barbecue) on the schedule at a little town just outside of the city. Michelle, a girl from WI (and why does there have to be TWO Michelle-s I know here in Spain? I'm gonna get them confused in here, I can already tell), and I are gonna get rides...either with Beni or some other choir member.

So yeah, I'm just glad I had a fun night. I love the choir peeps, and I'm so glad that I am involved in this. :)

Happy Thanksgiving (I'll probably say that again tomorrow)!
