-Gun for $65.00? You won't survive. Im not saying you have to get top-of-the-line $1000 gun, but at least drop 100 on a tippmann 98. Good starter gun, and you wont chop paint nearly as often. - Co2 is about right, nothing wrong there.. although I use nitro - Mask, check - $25 for 1000? First of all, you have to use field paint. If you come to a field with paint you bought at sports authority or something, and they catch you, they wont let you play. You have to shoot the same shell and color as everyone else. Field paint runs me about $80 per case, which is 2000 rounds.
-Spend at least 200 on start gear. Get a tippmann 98, and a JT thermal mask. Those are just the essentials.. you need a belt that holds extra rounds of paint. Going on a field with only a hopper is stupid, youll run out in a matter of minutes. -Your cost analysis is WAY off. I easily shoot almost 4000 rounds of paint PER TRIP, and need to get 3-4 fills of nitro. On Co2, it would probably be around 6 fills. You can get an all day fill pass for about 10 dollars, which will cover all your fills for the day. Dont expect to shoot under 100 dollars worth of paint though.. i can only see that happening if you suck and get out in the first 30secs every game.
Just trying to enlighten you.. its a very expensive hobby. It would be a shame for you too blow money on a sub-par gun, miss out on vital accessories, and totally undershoot how much you're going to spend per trip.
Oops sorry, this was more of a preliminary "what can i get away with without spending a lot" post. That 65$ gun was an ebay ad for a spyder xtra with a 14" teardrop and 230 non-electric hopper. I was merely using it for reference.
Overall, Im looking to spend roughly 100$ for a gun, either a used one off ebay or a brand new one from an online store. Looking at the tippman 98, tippman A-5, autococker trilogy sport, pro, or comp.. all of these are decent finds for 80-150$ (pro and A-5 a little higher). CO2 would just be for a little before I really go fully into it.. if i got a higher end gun, I would use nitro.
The field that I play at has no regulation on paint. They dont care what kind of shit you put in your own gun, but they do require you to use their paintballs if you rent. And your shell can be whatever and fill can be whatever as long as its not blood-red. Im not sure if they require field paint or anything, it just cant stain. These cases are coming off online stores, at about 45$ for a case of 2k for brandname paintballs.
I recently bought a Mantis 3+2 Harness off Ebay for 12$ (+10$ shipping) that comes with 3 pods so no problem there. On CO2, I dont really know how much I would use, because I havent been in a long time (at least 2 years.) I was just going off the rentals that they provide, which is 500 paintballs (and I dont really intend to spray a lane constantly) They dont provide all day air passes at the park, so its 3$ per 20oz fill. At the least, I'd probably spend at least 50$ on a 2k pack for the day.
Thanks for the help, and I'd appreciate more feedback :D
I see, ok. Good luck with a non-electronic hopper though. Make sure you get a gun with a 90' feed on the body instead of 45', otherwise you can look forward to shaking down paint quite often :) Click meh. Cheap, and new (i hate ebay for important stuff). What makes the tippmann such a great starter, is that you can upgrade it pretty easily, and make it into a pretty decent outdoor scenario gun. Double trigger, vert reg, maybe a flatline and you're golden. Just keep that thing out of indoor ^^
Our field is pretty nazi about FIELD PAINT ONRI, really hits the wallet hard. By the way, indoor or outdoor field? I play airball indoor.
If you ever decide to go for it all, buy SmartParts. I shoot a TKO Impy myself. Vision is a godsend, and the freak system is awesome. Plus, they do some kick ass milling/fades anyway you want them.^^ Highly recommended.
