World Trade Center

Last night I finally brought myself to complete the movie "World Trade Center". I had started it, and had to stop, because I found it so slow. I guess the main problem is that I'm a poor audience to begin with. When the 9/11 attacks occurred, I was living in Seattle, and as un-nationalistic as this may be, this particular act of terrorism felt no more horrifying for me than the hundreds of others that happen all over the world all of the time. Yes, a lot of people died all at once. A lot of people are dying all the time all over the place.

Anyway, so not only was the movie slow, but I was particularly closed to the thematic material to begin with. During the movie I whiled away the time by painting my finger- and toenails, getting glasses of water, and snuggling with Mayhem. There were times when I might have been moved, but I was holding on so hard to my indifference that not much got through.
