I have to say that one of my worst faults is probably vanity. I've had enough people in my life tell me that I'm pretty to be proud, and enough exposure to the media to be insecure. also, did you read that book that kelly had? survival of the prettiest. it was an interesting read, although it was a long time ago, so I don't remember whether they had anything in it about computerized beauty. they had a lot on symmetry though.

I can believe the bit about thinking that we're more attractive than we really are. I often forget what I look like when I'm not looking in the mirror, and therefore have this warped sense of self image. and I think that like you, I also have that worry about not being attractive enough (and being really insecure about how I appear to other people), but not doing much to change my appearance.

No, I never did read it. Ironically, my Amazon.com package finally came today, including "The Lucky Shopping Manual", which I had borrowed from a friend a while back. I decided it was time to stop worrying and start doing something. Or at least not worry and not do anything. Worrying and doing nothing is hopeless :)
