The first three pieces in a series of hand-crafted clockwork jewelry, set with semiprecious stones.
THE CHRONOMANCER'S BROOCH
She bustled from machine to machine, turning dials and adjusting valves. He spoke to her back: "You don't really expect this will send you back in time, do you?"
She paused for a moment to wipe her hair out of her face with a grimy, gloved hand. "Only if you assume time is linear," she explained. "If you look at it as a spiral, it's not so much back as across."
THE CHRONOMANCER'S AMULET
The controls were precise; a single fumble would send her flying who knew how far beyond her goal. She turned the last of the dials, closed her eyes, and prayed to the god of gear teeth.
THE CHRONOMANCER'S EARRINGS
He took her hand and led her onto the dance floor, and as she tried desperately to remember the steps to a Viennese waltz, the hands on the great grandfather clock caught her eye. She was almost out of time.
