So,
tiredfairy finally getting
her etsy shop up, plus the holiday season, plus my current decluttering project all have me thinking about what the hell to do about crafting. I have a LOT of finished pieces that I've never posted, mostly because I don't have good photos of them and don't really have the time or resources to work much on that. I know I want to keep doing *some* crafting, but I'd like to phase most of the selling end out--maybe do a show or fair now and again, but nothing ongoing--the idea is to be producing WAY less in general.
What do I do with my current stock? One idea was to see if one of my camera-savvy friends would be willing to put together a photoset for me on a barter basis, which would make posting everything else a snap. But at the same time, I haven't had a sale in months, and I don't really want to spend time on promotions to get more people to my shop.
Another idea I had was to basically post a list of what I have here, with links to photos of vaguely similar items (and photos when available; I have some not-great photos of a couple things--decent to convey what they are, but not really sparkly enough to post at etsy) at substantially reduced prices (since you wouldn't get to see them first) and/or bulk discounts. Would people be interested in that? Is there anyone out there just dyyyying for a
whimsy&brimstone original? Anyone who needs jewelry-flavored gifts?
(And, in that vein, anyone who has bought or been gifted one of my pieces who wants to weigh in on quality, etc.?)
Mostly, I'd like to get these out of my apartment, but to do so in a way that doesn't feel like a total loss--to gift them to friends who really like them; to sell them for at least more than the materials and shipping; or something.
You can get a pretty good idea of the sort of stuff I make by checking out my
storefront and
sold items; the only things that aren't represented at all there are some of the steampunkier pieces I've been working on, hand-tooled chains, and bead / stone rings.
