I'm starting to give some serious consideration towards starting my own Phelps LJ community.
Don't get me wrong, I love MPD. But I get sick and tired of the fact that I'm not a mod, yet me and several others have to take it upon ourselves to keep the community on the up & up, making it a positive place for Phelps fans to go. There's a couple of rules on the community "rule book" that frankly, are pretty stupid and give way to petty complaints, and some that need to be there for good reason.
The reason is that I'm considering this is because I had to do something today that upset me. I had to delete other's comments in a post I made. This makes me feel like an asshole, and kind of a LJ fascist. But they were comments posted by the same people that we keep telling over and over, keep the gossip *out* of the community. And they either can't help themselves or don't listen.
Granted, if I owned my own community, I'd have to do the same thing. But the point is, I'm not the owner of MPD, I'm not a mod, so I shouldn't have to be doing this. THE OWNER AND THE MODS SHOULD. And I'm not sure anymore, with nwere members suddenly coming in over the past week or so, that I'm comfortable in being in a community that could be on the verge of near anarchy. Like I keep saying, *I don't want to lose more members*.
I would need to figure out a name, a layout, my own set of "rules" if you will...and truth be told, this would be a members-only community, and possibly no one under the age of sixteen/eighteen. The conversations that we get into get a bit on the blue side, and I'm not about to be shut down based on that.
Thoughts? Ideas?
