Went over to alex_kingston's house for finale!watch cum cryfest part 2 with twentyplanes. We bought a bottle of F&N Fruitade, because it was green and would pass for non-alcoholic ambrosia. So y'know.
IGN: I don't want to know spoilers and I know you couldn't tell me anyway, but what did you think when you read the final script? What was your reaction when you finished it?
Sackhoff: You know, at first I was a little disappointed. I was like, "Really? That's what you're gonna do? Okay…" But then the more I thought about it, I was like, "Oh… this makes so much sense. That's fantastic!" And I realized that if the fans do what I did, they'll be happy. If they take it for what it is on camera, they'll be like, "Excuse me?!"
Firstly, I really felt like Katee did. Disappointed and really just WTF?! when they showed the indigenous peoples. And then I realised it was not so much about what era they landed in, but rather, what it means to them, which was a chance to start over and be at peace. They could finally, really, lay down their burdens and continue their lives and let's face it, after all that they've been through, they deserved this. And once that was figured out I was just HOLY FRAK THE FINALE'S AWESOME. BEST BITTERSWEET FINALE EVER. However, now I can't stop thinking about Jared Diamond's "Guns, Germs and Steel" and the fertile fucking crescent.
Secondly, I know that it has ended. But I feel strangely calm about this. Maybe it'll really hit me next week when I'm all set to watch the show and realise it ended the week before. IDK.
♜ OTP. I LOVE THAT THEY GOT THEIR HAPPY ENDING. THEY GOT THE PERFECT ENDING WITH THE HAPPINESS AND THE DOMESTICITY AND (PROBABLY) HYBRID KIDS. DESPITE Y'KNOW DESTROYING THE WORLD TOGETHER IN THE FIRST PLACE. Because it's really just them. They've come a full circle since the Miniseries where she asks him whether he loves her and he can't answer and in that flashback when he first mentions the word 'love' and gave her the idea/notion of it. And from when they blew up the Colonies in the Miniseries to helping save humanity (and the hope for humanity) in the finale. And yes, grabby hands on bulletproof vest!
Okay, when I'm all recovered from the excitement and OMG SO GIDDY!, I'll picspam those two. Because they really loved each other, and just so adorable and everything. BTW HOW COOL THAT THEY'RE ALL FARMING AND STUFF. I MEAN BALTAR WAS FROM AERILON, SO THAT'S LIKE DUH. AND REMEMBER THAT TRICIA GREW UP ON A FARM? OMG. SOMEONE PLEASE WRITE CAPRICA/GAIUS FARMING FIC. ♜ CAPRICA WITH A GUN. I believe all 4 of us collectively went 'FIERCE!' when Caprica did the whole checking-her-ammo thing. Because daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang girl. HOT. And seriously, whoever doubted that Caprica could use a gun has to be airlocked. My bb's a Cylon that was instrumental to blowing up the frakking Colonies okay. And snaps necks in her free time. So it's kinda obvious that she'd know how to use a gun. -smushes Caprica-
♜ Head!Six/Head!Gaius and Caprica/Gaius. OH GODS THAT SCENE WAS TEN TIMES OF EPIC AND AWESOME. "YOU SEE THEM TOO?" OKAY, HEAD CHARACTERS NEED THEIR VERY OWN SPINOFF BECAUSE DAYUM THEY'RE SO FRAKKING BRILLIANT. AND BADASS. THEY TOTALLY GO FOR LIKE TEA IN THE AFTERNOONS IN WHEREVER THEY LIVE AND MOCK HUMANITY OR SOMETHING.

I love that Six starts the series and she (and Baltar) end it. It's a nice little bookend. The miniseries starts with the prelude to the genocide and all the mess and the show finales with a caution about technology.
Tricia, if you were my math teacher I wouldn't have slept so much through lectures and tutorials. You can teach me about the Law of Averages anytime okay? Okay.
♜ KARA THRACE AND HER SPECIAL DESTINY.
I think I'm one of the few who thought it was a fitting end for her. She's, as Katee said at SDCC last year, at peace. And that's all I ever wanted for Kara. She was sent back as an angel to guide the Fleet to earth ("and then they will join the promised land, gathered on the wings of an angel"). But for her to be at peace, she had to come to terms with herself (what she was, who she was) on her own, that's why she didn't even know she was an angel. And she finally did at the end. Her time was up, so she vanished. I really love that moment.
She didn't really end up with anyone (not really, but Anders did meet her in the afterlife so that's something). And well, she did her part in leading the Fleet to their end ("not an end, but a beginning"). She was a harbinger of death - the death of their old lives, and the start of their new one.
SIDENOTE: Since Kara was an angel that could be seen by all, I'm now more convinced than ever that Shelly was really Head!Six in costume. Which technically explains everything, ie, what Head!Six wasn't there when Shelly was around, why she "rounded a corner and disappeared" and suddenly Head!Six was back again. It was another ploy to test Baltar.
♜ LEE. OH LEE. I hope you're happy, with your climbing mountains and crossing oceans and exploring and totally looking like an excited little boy about the whole prospect. I like that Kara asked him what he was going to do before she left. To me, that's her way of making sure he's going to be okay - despite his dad and Roslin leaving him behind and Kara telling him she's leaving - he's going to be able to move on. It was, imo, a perfect K/L ending.
♜ SAM. THEY MADE HIM FLY TOWARDS THE SUN AND PLAYED THE FRAKKING COLONIAL ANTHEM. I LOST IT. (btw his tub? Is badass)

I cried buckets when Laura passed, and dammit Bill didn't even see. But god their scenes were so sad and heartwrenching. But at least she got to see Earth before she died. ♜ FIGHTING AGATHONS. I WAS SO DAMN AFRAID FOR HELO. BUT HE WAS FINE AND WITH A CANE. They're gonna build their house down the block from Caprica/Gaius and bring their kids over for playdates and teach them how to ride horses and milk cows and repair tractors and stuff. ♥
♜ Opera House. I LOVE THE STAGING. I think what it meant was that Caprica/Gaius had to get her to the main hall (aka the CIC) to set everything (aka God's plan) in motion (Cavil holding her hostage, Tigh mediating for Resurrection, Tory/Tyrol face-off and gunfight, nukes would blow) and Kara *had* to bring them to Earth.
♜ I like that everything went south and Cavil was a frakking coward who decided to commit suicide because he wasn't going to see everything blow up around him. Or resurrect. Cloyster destroyed, so Cylon threat's neutralized? Awesome.
