It really depends on who I'm buying for. If they're like my dad, who has everything he wants because he buys it right when he wants it, I get them gift cards to their favorite places. Now I know, many of you are thinking "Gift cards?! What a shallow, thoughtless gift!" Sometimes, gift cards are a shallow gift...like when someone buys you and everyone else in your family the same mass produced card that's to somewhere you never go. However, a gift card can be a very thoughtful gift; I remember one year when my uncle got me a gift card to Aj's Fine Foods, which is a place I absolutely adore.
Some of my friends are really hard to shop for, but not because they have everything. They are hard to shop for because they can't think of anything they want. In these cases, I make something for them. Usually, it's a plushie of one of their original characters or a plushie of a real character that you just can't find. I draw and frame pictures, make wooden boxes with 3D art on them, and this year, I'll probably make stockings full of candy, nuts, and a small gift from me.
