So the new semester has started and I've noticed strange negative occurrences happening before each class on tuesday and thursday.
On tuesday morning, (first day of class for the semester) I woke up @ 9:10 for my 8:30 class and had a fading dreamy memory of getting out of bed shutting off my alarm and going straight back to sleep. Obviously, I was not awake nor thinking clearly... DB drops me off downtown and I attend what's left of the class; I take the bus back home, have lunch, and do an assignment before my 3:30 class.
At about 2:57 I leave the house to walk a half a block to the bus stop to wait for the bus that should show up at 3:05ish. Myself and another student are both standing directly in front of the bus-stop sign and the bus is clearly late. At about 3:10 we see the bus barreling down the street. I put up my arm to let the driver know that this other student and I are in fact waiting for the bus, and not crossing guards for the nearby elementary school. Obviously, the driver didn't care because as my arm is up the bus blows right by me....
The other student and I, not having said anything up until now and with very alarmed looks on our faces, turn to one another and both say, (in perfect unison mind you) "What the Fuck was that?!?!?" It really is infrequent that two total strangers say to one another in unison, "What the Fuck was that?!?!" without it leading to fighting. The other student and I start walking in disbelief, and at the end of the block he decidedly turns away from the school and says, "Screw it. I'm going home." I pause and reluctantly soldier on through the 10below (without windchill, and it was very windy) to campus.
So come Thursday, I resolved to go to bed earlier wednesday night and make sure I set two alarms before hitting the sack. I awoke @ 7 with an hour and a half to get showered, eat, and get to class. In the very cold dark house I, still naked from getting out of bed, go downstairs and turn on the hot water to warm up the shower. To my surprise nothing happens... No water. No sound. Nothing eminates from the showerhead. Hooray! Frozen pipes! I, (still naked and shivering) run around collecting a hairdryer and extension cord and find access to the frozen pipes in the even colder basement. Needless to say, by the time I got into the warm shower, my body decided to stay in the warmth and refused to let me leave the comfort of the steamy warmies. I force myself to get out at about 7:50 and head BACK down into the cold basement and grab my clean clothes out of the dryer. (Obviously after warming them back up of course.)
But warming them in the dryer turned out to be not so great an idea, because as I'm getting dressed the static cling is so powerful my clothes are sticking to me like vinyl clings to a clean window. I tried to discharge some the the static by touching metal objects and let off two good shocks, but still everything clings to me. As I'm almost dressed and pull my shirt over my head I hear crackles and then feel a painful twitch to my right eyelid as static electricity from my shirt zaps my eye. (Through my closed eyelid thankfully.) *sigh*
By now I've been thrown out of any groove enough that I'm late... I take my time drinking my coffee (which didn't get filtered nice and has grounds in it) while the car warms up, and DB drives me... again. (what would I do without her?)
But this is just before the first class of the day. As I'm home for break between morning and afternoon classes, DB informs me that direct deposit only shows about half of my check from work was deposited in the bank. When I hand in my hours at the university, I drop off two sheets of paper each covering two weeks of the month. They always get dropped off together into an inbox and always get filed together and I get paid for both two week periods all at once. One payment every month. What happened to the other sheet is the question... Which is still up in the air at this point.
Now I'm not airing this because I think it's so horrible. Worse things in life happen. I could have been hit by the bus. I'm trying to keep my chin up.
But I do have to say this one thing to the world. If come next Tuesday, bad news starts happening promptly before class... I'm going to quietly slip back under the covers in my bedroom and never. ever. *ever*. go to another Tuesday or Thursday class again. Because You Win World! I give UP! I will withdraw from all my classes and simply live under the covers for many months awaiting May.
