Today during church I got to sing a special with Kamijo-sensei: "Near the Cross" in Japanese. I was singing harmony. It was really fun. I miss so much being able to sing harmony. Usually it's just too much to concentrate on, trying to sing in Japanese and sing harmony at the same time, especially if it's a song I'm unfamiliar with. But I know "Near the Cross" nearly by heart in English, and my ability to read Japanese has improved enough that I was able to sing it nearly perfectly with only one practice. I do so love singing harmony, especially with that song. It's actually one of my favorite hymns. It lends itself well to harmony, and you can do some really creative and beautiful things with it.
I got to play bass as well, which is also always fun.
Kamijo-sensei is becoming, like, my fun Japanese uncle. I like and respect him a lot. His wife and son are awesome too. ^_^ I was having a kind of depressing day but I had enough fun in choir that it got much better and now I feel okay.
Today Kamijo-sensei and I tried to talk about history. It's challenging to talk about history in Japanese. Just throwing that out there.
Also, today, Kanaya-chan insisted on coming up to see my room. If I had known about that, I would have cleaned. It's sooo messy. :/ But she liked to see the pictures of my family. Her mother wants to try to play a song from the Nutcracker as a piano duet with me. This intimidates me, because her mother is SUPER AWESOME on piano, and it took me months just to get the Moonlight Sonata down. We'll see how that works out.
