I was reading a story on Yahoo! news about how the American media is a little butthurt over the fact that a black man's American presidency is not among the top 3 stories for Canadians in 2009.
Guys, guys, guys. If you had voted in Hillary, it wouldn't have mattered either. We already have a female head of state - Queen Elizabeth II of England. Not only that, but her viceroyal in Canada is Michaëlle Jean - a black Haitian refugee cum Canadian citizenship. So not only is our top head of state a woman, but her right hand over in Canada is a black woman. So while we like Barack Obama because he's a breath of fresh air from the foul stench rogue cowboys make in office, I don't think we as a people are as all fired up about the racial issue as you'd hoped we'd be.
