My weekend review - becuase I'm bored

It's been a great weekend. I spent friday night screwing with my brain chemistry with Jen. Took time today to cook some bitchin' spaghetti, and saw Sin City at the dollar theater. It's late and I need to be up for work in less than five hours, but I can't sleep, so I'm drinking beer and killing time by nerding it up online.

Friday, Jen and I went out to eat at Zio's and ventured downtown a couple of hours later with the initial plan of tracking down the mythic riverfront, but after wandering through Con Agra business park and back we were exhausted and our quest turned into sitting around the lake in Heartland park for quite some time and watching the fountain. A little after ten, we returned to where we parked the car on the top level of the parking garage and juggled with our respective equipment for an hour or so. In what turned out to be a beautiful coincidence, Rosenblatt put on a firework show for some unknown reason, and we had what seemed to be the best vantage point in Omaha. We stood on the garage for maybe five minutes and watched the most incredible firework display I've seen in some time. It was fantastic.

We left downtown at some point and dropped by Alan's to check out the new hot tub while on our way to Kent's. Saw Dan "the man" Brillan-fucking-tino, Ross, Noah, Jimmy, and, of course, Kent. Stayed there for a while, got dogpiled, and headed home. Jen and I stayed up until sunrise just talking of the porch.

Today was pretty laid back. Slept into the afternoon, cooked some food, saw Sin City, and that about sums it up. I need to get to sleep pretty soon here, but I suck at doing things that need to be taken care of.

Overall, this weekend couldn't have been better. I saw a lot of friends, used my time wisely, and, thanks to Jimmy's keen insight, had something of a personal revelation. I can go to work today with a clear head.

Also, lately I've become utterly obsessed with The Mars Volta, and next month I'm going to purchase a metal hoop.
