Looking for some feedback from the local folks. One of the few things I miss from working Philcon was running the film room. A weekend of pure cinematic candy was always a joy. I have been thinking about doing the occasion evening thing, much like the great gang from EXHUMED FILMS, but with more of a science fiction direction. There are some films I REALLY want to see on the big screen, even if its a digital projection and not film. I am not sure if I would rent some place like the Lith Hall and use a big screen, or go theater rental route. So the question is, what films would you like to see? And second, would you be willing to donate in a bit, or a buy a ticket to help defray the costs? Some of the titles I am thinking about would be:
Forbidden Planet
Akira
Phantom of the Paradise (yeah, I am obsessed with that film).
The Abyss - directors cut (I got to show this on film way before the cut ever came to DVD. The tidal wave effects were stunning on the big screen)
a double feature of : The Three/Four Musketeers ( I have a great French DVD of this which is longer than the US DVD release (that would be an all day event, those are LONG movies)
Vidocq (not sure I can get the rights, but it is visually stunning)
Gonna stay away from horror I think, EXHUMED covers that pretty well. Thoughts? Suggested titles?
