I think one reason people have a hard time being Atheist is fear.
When something shitty happens in your life and the small effects linger on for years and years, you have to hope that when you're shoved in the ground, something good happens. You have to hope God's going to apologize for being an asshole and fucking up you, your brother, and your parents' lives.
