a couple weeks ago me& naomi & jen & sara took a train down to london for a night. krista & her sister (who's a body builder) met up with us in the park& we had tea at the orangery-- chamomile, pound cake, & cucumber sandwiches. a man outside the palace was feeding nuts to squirrels who sat on his shoulders.
& i could totally fit into the lockers in our hostel room
attempting to fit into small enclosed spaces is one of my hobbies. yes, my life really *is* that sad.
"omg i never knew she was hiding in there!"
that night we wandered around in used record stores & book shops. we went to a club that had art work projected on the walls in lights & a bagel stand. a movie about a gypsy transvestite was playing. he/she had many elaborate sequenced outfits & rather disturbing dance moves. there were these people dressed as flight attentants with funny hats speaking in thick fake russian accents. a cardboard space ship was brought out & they turned on a transmittor in order to contact a bear in space named "mischka"
they did a raffle in order to choose two people in the audience to visit mischka. then they exclaimed "let's all go to space!" suddenly, this midget in a bear suit appeared into the crowd & this horrible techno music began to play. it tried to get everyone to dance.
"dance with MISCHKA!"
it was... slightly terrifying.
after that, a gypsy orchaestra came out to play!
i want to learn to play EVER SINGLE instrument that was there. period.
& after that, klezmer band showed up with a theremin. it was pretty much heaven. i think they put on this entire thing cos they KNEW we were gonna be in london that day.
this lady in a peasant blouse who played violin for one of the bands began to talk to me. she told me i should go to klezmer camp, since america supposedly has those? then the smoke began to rise & thicken so we decided weaved through the maze of sweaty people to the exit.
the next day we wondered around hyde park in the cold rain & chased ducks. that night, we saw titus andronicus which is basically the bloodiest shakespeare play ever. being the first in line, we were able to stand in the pit right up next to the front of the stage. cos of this, we almost got splashed on by stage blood numerous times & we were forced to dart out of the way of royalty on large metal carts & a band of rioters playing horns shaped like animal heads.
over all, it was worth the journey. theremins + bloody theatrical performances + tea + russian bears from space = good time had by all. yeah.
the end.
