roundhouse mind

A couple of days ago in the park by my house, as happens occasionally, an abandoned bike showed up against a tree by the limestone lion. But this morning instead of disappearing, the bike was joined by a second leaning against it.

Another day, honest, I was walking by the high school thinking about schnauzers--I'd just heard how amazingly an art prof cartoonist had met an assignment to render a bike-riding schnauzer dressed up as a crow (play on the name of the company), and OK maybe a little envious I was imagining what I'd do with the assignment, and suddenly an artist friend who works in ephemeral media pulls up in a car with a classically coiffed black and white schnauzer in the passenger seat to just say hi. I said I was just thinking about schnauzers.

Last night instead of going dancing I agreed to help a friend research tasers for an info sheet to help lobby against one of the local PDs buying some, a sorry task. Ineffective, deadly, designed to be abused, used disproportionately on oppressed groups--that's all that needs to be said really. Afterwards walking in the summer chill to buy some kiwis for my yoga-instructor-niece-houseguest, I was tackled by a cat the color pattern of my current sweater like I was a long lost friend. It must have conjured me.

Unusually constrained proofreading assignment: correct revisions of sections of an already-published book in such a way as to not disturb the pagination and do this billing less than 10 hours. Oulipist for hire.
