this isn't pointed towards anyone in specific..but I hope it will hit some people hard.
Im sick of people and their money..people are so covered in it and having everything they want and don't need, they don't even see the hardships people have to deal with because they don't have much, even their own friends. Like I didn't know nice people could be so extremely selfish..it breaks up friends and families unecessarily. What could go wrong if we just gave a little, us that are more fortunate than others? Always having money has never been able to make me happy like my friends have..money can never fulfill your needs. So why do people let it get in the way? I've been giving money to a 3 year old girl in guatemala for about a year now..and everytime i get a simple letter from her I feel happier than i could ever feel after buying something with material value..I look forward to mailing money every month cus I know its not going into a designer purse..or designer sunglasses that cost more than groceries for my family for weeks...but to a girl that has lost her family and was at one point at risk of dying of sanitation problems and no food..but now theres hope for her to be able to grow up and start a life of her own. Shes gotten enough from me now that shes been able to start school, which is something she would have never gotten to do. I was sent an old pictures of her and her mother, who is no longer alive. She was one of the most beautiful, strong looking women I have ever seen. I can't begin to think how much she ached over the fact that she could never give her daughter the world.
Selfishness is a human condition, along with backstabbing and jealousy..but we make our own choices. no matter what we believe in or where we come from we all are alike when it comes to what we need- to give and be given to. People like my friends, family, and a little girl thousands of miles away give me more than I could ever ask for everyday.
Phillipians 2.3,4
"Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit,
but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another
as more important than himself;
Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for
the interests of others."
It's amazing a much a 3 year old can say how much she loves a person she has never met in a letter. I can't make anybody give up anything they don't need, but don't be so blind.
Love to all
