Finally someone has the guts to call out Hawthorne Heights, not only for being a shitty band, but for being the cause of corrupt government. It's about time some courageous rebel finally said what we've all been thinking.

Haha! Underoath runs the IMF and destroys indigenous cultures with their neoliberal policies!

I wouldn't say that in public if I were you... My Chemical Romance might send one of their paramilitary death squads to track you down...

I think a return to the big band/swing/jazz music of the late 30's and early 40's would be a solution, not only because the music is better but because that was, after all, such a docile and almost utopian geopolitical environment.

Good point! But I suggest we go with something even MORE politically retrograde! What sort of music did the Borgia family listen to? The lute? Hammered dulcimer? That shit is my jam.

Oh no, I agree, they aren't at all. But the post starts off by describing a bleak, corrupt intergovernmental landscape:

"Beirut. The Patriot Act. Palestine. Africa. Wal-Mart. Clear Channel. Peak oil. Global devastation. The backward talk of those in power that dominates and suffocates our cultural discourse. Overpopulation. The dawning of neo-feudalist Theocracy in America."

And then launches into a plea for pop punk bands to break up for the good of the country:

"So, Cute Is What We Aim For, consider your new aim ansering the call of our country. Underoath, pledge allegiance to the freedom of your fellow citizens."

The author is, either with sincerity or with ineffectively sarcastic humor, linking the two. I was just exploiting that obviously spurious link for my own amusement.

But, to be fair, I probably missed the actual point altogether seeing as I don't really know who Tim Kinsella is, though I do vaguely remember reading his name in a lot of Thank You sections from the liner notes of a lot of "post-hardcore" bands.

It's difficult to say what sarcasm is effective for, or if its effective at all, isn't it ( ... )
