Welcome Back!

It's been a weird couple of weeks and this one was no exception. The highlights were that my steroid injection FINALLY started working Tuesday afternoon and I'm loving life without pain. I have to tell people that I'm having hip surgery "this month" and that seems scarier than saying "next month".

I've had chronic hives all week that have been the worst at night. One night they covered 90% of my body. Finn and I made some stressful visits to the doctor due to tantrums and the frustrating ambiguity of hives. I got tested for food allergies and found out (again) that I'm allergic to nuts. No surprise there. I'm afraid that I might have developed an allergy to my new cat. That would be so sad, so I plan to go get tested first thing next week. In the mean time, I've been on and off of antihistamines. If they are idiopathic hives, I hope they disappear with as much mystery.

My doctor and I discovered after a conversation that involved me saying "tablet" instead of "capsule" quite a few times when referring to my antidepressant that Walgreens gave me the wrong drug! I've been taking old school Effexor which is guaranteed to turn your stomach into one big bowl of pain and nausea. Needless to say that I changed pharmacies and the nausea has already cleared up after taking the time release formula.

In big news, my period is back! That means I have been 2 years exactly without a cycle. I thought it was starting yesterday, but didn't want to get too excited. This is good timing. Eric and I want another baby once I've recovered from my surgery and we feel ready to be open to number two. We shall see what the future brings. After our history with trying to have Finn, we want to not overly focus on conceiving and try and be casual about it for the next year.

My brother's 30th birthday part(ies) were this weekend. After nearly ruining the surprise portion in the morning Friday (yikes) the rest of the day went smoothly. My mother's helper came with me to entertain Finn while Janaya, my dad and I decorated and prepared. Finn was having his most melted of tantrum days Friday, so we barely made it to "surprise!" and then had to go put him to bed.

Last night my dad and I watched Tristan and Avery while my brother and SIL went to dinner at the Herbfarm. They have both been glowing all weekend, so I'm thinking they are having fun. Tristan gave me major baby envy for number two. We had a few ups and down in the evening, but things went generally more smoothly after I got Tristan down for a nap and Finn went to bed. 3 kids to 2 adults are way more challenging than 2:2. I can't believe my brother is 30! I'm so happy for him that life has treated him so well the past years. I can still remember when we lived together in our early twenties and he had his doubts that he would find the kind of love he has with Janaya and the kind of fulfillment he gets from his life. :) It's good to be a sister today.

My last day of working is coming up fast. Danielle is having her C-section the same day as my surgery. My dad is blissfully dating. Dana is being discovered for her awesome artistic talent over and over as she completes her degree in Digital Design at Seattle U. Rachel is rocking her business world and totally in love. Eric is getting over being ill and enjoying jamming with a new friend. Manda is just weeks away from delivering her first baby. All-in-all, I am starting to BELIEVE that it will be a nice winter and that the chaos of summer 2007 is coming to an end...

...please? :)
