Finn's pediatrician asked me today if my hip is still holding up well after the surgery in November. It takes me a minute when someone asks to realize what they are asking about. This is how far from my mind hip pain is these days. I live 99% of the time without pain. It's shocking when I think about the world I lived in of nightly trying to readjust on the couch while icing or heating and taking more Advil.
To be honest, I don't feel like I have very good luck when life is a gamble. Or maybe I should say I don't feel like I have good luck with my health. I dreamed of the hip surgery being effective and it relieving not only my hip pain, but SI and back pain too. Now here I am and it did all of those things. Sometimes I think about it and I smile and feel drenched in a sense of peace.
For fun, here are the things I tried for my pelvic and hip pain:
Acupuncture
Acupressure
Chiropractic Massage
Rheumatologist
Non-narcotic pain patches
Medical Intuitive
Deep Tissue Massage
Physical therapy
Psychic
Physiatrist
Wearing a lift
Podiatrist- getting orthodics, twice
Never rotating to the left... seriously
OTC pain medications
Psychotherapy
Yoga
Saunas and other heat treatments
Weight lifting
Martial arts inspired physical therapy
Reading and following several books of advice
Estimated number of doctors seen: 13
Estimated number of physical therapists: 4
Estimated number of Chiropractors: 3
Estimated number of massage therapists: 8
Number of surgeons and surgery: 1
Wow. That's lucky.
