so my accomplishment for this weekend has been getting contact lenses. i've been thinking about this for a while, and decided to use some christmas money to do it. i don't want to get rid of my super-fun thrifted vintage frames, but they do have their drawbacks. it's hard to find frames that look good and fit. the ones i have right now don't fit- they're often crooked and fall of my face if i have to look too far down or turn too quickly. and they dominate every other feature on my face. but having thrifted awesome frames before, nothing new on offer looks that distinctive or appealing. plus, there's a price difference of over a hundred dollars. i'm not interested in new frames, i don't want to get rid of my old ones. i just want options, and now i have them- glasses, no glasses, whatever the style for the day might be.
and once i took my glasses off, i realized something else- i have dark bags under my eyes. really noticeably so. my mom says it runs in the family- thin skin or something. so getting contact lenses has also led me to exploring the world of make-up for the first time. i never thought i would do this. part of me is very no fuss and can't really be bothered, but i think it's also confidence issue- like, i didn't want to try because it might not work and i might not look that different or good and what's so great about my face anyway. but i have discovered that minus glasses plus concealer, my face can be pretty cute. it's worth the effort- sometimes, anyway.
there's pics up on facebook, if you want to see.
