Dum de dum
So, what have I done in the past week. Let's see.
Maelstrom was good! Possibly the strangest event I've been at yet; something about the combination of the camp layout, the hosts, the weather and general goings-on made it all feel somewhat off. It might be just that this was the first event at which I definitely got the sense that the days of wandering around events looking for drinks with impunity may be over! Not to mention that our group had no tent to act as a home base.
Other oddities involved remarking that my sword had some inexplicable purple stuff on it, and rationalizing IC that it had to be purple Fallen blood (as, OC, I remembered having hit a purple fellow who'd DOUBLE STRIKEDOWN'd me, so some snazz must have rubbed off), and acquiring yet more assets from retiring characters, of the most nefarious nature...
I managed to trek there and back with my weapons safely unharmed. While the razor I crafted up on commission to cyrus_ii went over a treat (including with the weapons checker - it's sorely tempting to make more...), I apparently failed at fixing Squeaky's dagger, but just as well since he didn't turn up anyway.
Stopping over in London on the way back I saw Children of Men which I must recommend heartily to anyone who hasn't seen it, and played Magic: The Gathering for the first time in many years, due to which I nearly missed the check-in for my Eurostar, but hey.
Soon I shall start another LARP weapon commission, this time a more substantial one, which may also incorporate some interesting design elements. It's a bit of a secret, though, so I won't divulge any info without the consent of the client... ;)
