My out-of-warranty desktop PC, which has been acting a little wacky lately, has finally crashed. XP won't start, system is corrupted, it won't boot into safe mode or last known good configuration, blah blah blah... It had started making *ka-chunk-ka-chunk* noises over the weekend, which is generally considered not to be a good thing in a computer. :P Luckily I have an external hard drive and backed up my data while I could; also luckily I have a netbook so I can still surf teh intarwebs.
I was hoping to nurse it along until October, when I can get a computer with Windows 7 and thus avoid buying at the tail end of Vista's lifespan. If it's dead, then so be it -- the netbook will probably be good enough for a couple of months.
If anyone has a local PC repair shop they particularly like (I live in Waltham), I'm open to recommendations.
