Todd, or Apostle?

I've had a relatively busy weekend. I took Friday off just to make a long weekend, and spent the afternoon bumming around the Brimfield antiques fair. I didn't spend a whole lot, but did add a few items to various collections (hey, it's not my fault, pack-ratism is genetic!) and did a lot of walking, which is good.

Then on Friday evening, I miraculously resisted the call of the comfy sofa and went to the Boston Babydolls benefit show. They're a local burlesque troupe run by folks I originally knew from the SCA, and they've been trying to open a rehearsal studio down in the city of Quincy. However, a local politician has been being an ass about it, using every bureaucratic angle to slow things down so they'll run out of money and go away. Note the Babydolls are opening a rehearsal studio, not a performance venue, so the good citizens of Quincy will not be exposed to any twirled tassels (unless they sign up for lessons).

I find burlesque funny, and sexy in a naughty way, even if I don't personally find women "stimulating," if you will. I definitely prefer the humorous dances. My favorite performance was one they originally did for "Massachusetts Institute of Not Harvard," in which one of the dancers starts out in geeky clothes -- t-shirt, flannel overshirt, jeans and sneakers -- and is inspired by the porn on her laptop to begin removing her clothes. She finally revealed that her pasties were in the shape of Tux the Linux Penguin. ;)

Saturday morning I headed out to Worcester for songtyger's group visit to the Worcester Art Museum. It turned out that foobyte was the only other attendee, the others having dropped out, but that was fine -- the three of us had fun bumming around the museum and being snarky. Even more walking was involved, as it took far longer than we thought to get through everything. OK, we could have gone faster if not for the snarking.

Today I was pretty much a bum. ;) I did make a little progress picking up the living room and doing some costume work.
