Today's weather was warm, even slightly toasty. It was a great day for visiting the sheepshearing festival at Gore Place in Waltham. Waltham's mostly covered with businesses and homes, but there are a few old estates like Gore Place that have been preserved, and I forget they're there sometimes. It was nice to be out and about in the sunshine!
ilaine_dcmrn told me I should snuggle a sheep. Alas, they did not have sheep available for full-on snuggling, but I could pet one in its pen. I did indeed see a sheep getting shorn by a man using old-fashioned shears, not an electric cutter; he clearly had been doing this for years and very efficiently cut the wool off. The sheep, for its part, wiggled a bit on occasion but was mostly cooperative, and was probably happier in this weather to be relieved of all that wool.
