News from Alex at Ft. Jackson
We just got a text message from our son at Basic training. He is "Soldier of the Cycle". As my wife writes in her FB posting:
"...[Only ]a couple people are nominated by each platoon & then they get grilled by a board on everything they should have learned. From what I understand it's 1 of the only 4 honors that goes down on their... Army records (and recognized at graduation, which he can't attend)."
I think this also goes to promotions, but I'm not sure how high up a boost he gets for it.
