I think the 12th house might be deeply misunderstood. Associated with tragic circumstance and "self-undoing", it's often made out to be some kind of karmic vortex. But I've had an insight about it -- It's a microcosm of the ego paradigm that characterizes the human condition. Recently I was talking to my NLP therapist, and I said something to the effect of "When people talk to me, they think that I'm the persona that I'm embodying. They don't understand that there's an awareness that envelops and transcends it." But I was thinking about this, and really this is everyone's circumstance -- they just don't know it! So, in other words, the 12th house (and particularly with the sun located there) prevents the formation of a cohesive self-identity without the presence of spiritual connection. The self-undoing aspects arise from the unwillingness of the afflicted native's part to establish this connection, and as a result they're forced to embody very minute aspects of themselves, because whatever is present in the moment of embodiment is conceived of as "all there is". This is because from the ultimate spiritual perspective this moment IS in actuality all there is BUT, when that intuitive realization (an innate attribute of the 12th), is channeled through the ego, it becomes deeply distorted. And thus the plight -- and tremendous potential -- of the 12th house sun.
