Ok, so I think i'm just going to give up on Ubuntu. I've tried everything I can find. I did finally manage to get the wireless card to see local wireless networks, but it refuses to actually connect to anything. I'm probably using the wrong driver, but I'm tired of looking for the right driver. The main reason I wanted to play in ubuntu is a really cool app called Beryl that can be run on it. It's a window manager that makes the windows in the os do cool visual things like wiggling when you move them. I managed to get that working on my laptop, only to find out that I don't have enough video memory to support it very well. If I run an app like firefox in fullscreen all I see is blackness. It makes me a sad panda. I think that if Linux ever really wants a shot at being a widespread OS they are going to HAVE to make setup easier. I like it, I really do, I just can't get the damn thing set up.
