Hey Guys!
Yesterday was a pretty good day, but certainly a reminder of how lame working this much is.  I was up at 7 or so (need to get up earlier than that if I don't want to snap at my parents for no good reason), drove to work, worked all day, drove to tutoring, tutored for 2 hours, and then went to the gym.  It was my first session in ages, so I was pretty weak, but that's okay - I would expect nothing less, really, since it's probably been about 3 months since I've been going regularly.  I have a starting point, and I have a progression for getting to respectable, and I have a reasonably doable diet - I hit a high point of 220 a while ago and may or may not be past it at this point - so that should be good provided I don't lose track of it.

Then I made the choice to be social!  I was surprised I had it in me, but I do know some cool people who are disappearing soon.  Went to a couple of places, had a couple of things, thought a few deep thoughts and a few not-so-deep ones, and made it home by about midnight.  What a difference an hour makes, guys.  I'm dragging a little today, and I need to figure out a solution to this problem.  Should I just go out weekends?  Should I get better at burning my candle at both ends?  Should there be more stimulants?  I don't know.  Times are tough :P

I haven't told you anything about my job yet!  I got it from having a friend in the office, and because I would be trainable and intelligent fresh meat.  It's in IT, but the IT department has all the programmers it's going to have, and that was the intent even before I realized it was just going to be a summer job.  I do the things that people with 3D Programming Goggles on have too little time to get to or have trouble seeing as well - mostly Excel stuff, Tutorials, and basic IT issues.  I'm learning, I'm keeping busy, and I'm enjoying the state-of-the-art computer I get to use with its two monitors and ability to withstand opening dozens of excel documents at the same time.  It's also cool to work together with an excellent administrator like my main boss is: he delegates, he recognizes the necessity for having a broad overview in mind, he keeps things fluid when things need to be fluid, and he takes people as people more than jobs, which affords much more possibility to any task and any person than could otherwise be hoped for.  He's also much more task-oriented than a taskmaster, so I have significant leeway to my hours.  The only thing I don't like about the job, really, is the pay - and that's sort of my fault since I lowballed my salary (I told him my minimum, so he gave me my minimum; lesson learned).

How are you doing?
-Alec
