I have not posted anything in awhile.
We arrived in NYC on January 13, and I love everything about it-- even when it feels like 10 degrees out. I love public transportation, the melding of cultures, food, movies, nightlife, attractions, museums, work, everything.
So far, I've tried three different cupcake places. Tonnie's is the best; it's even better than Magnolia. Plus you can get two cupcakes for $2 with a student ID.
I've only gone to two of the many museums, but plan on going to as many as possible. We hit up the Museum of the Moving Image for class, and it was amazingly fun. They had fun activities and a lot of costumes from the movie "Chicago." I went to the Jewish Museum on one of my days off. It was really interesting, and afterward, I had lunch with a cute little old Jewish lady.
The food here is amazing. I normally don't cook. Instead of going out and getting Whataburger, Wendy's, or Subway for a few bucks, I can go down the street and get decent pizza or chicken shawarma. I was surprised to find one place with sweet tea. However, unlike Bill Miller's and Bush's, it was kind of expensive for not very much tea. I'll probably have to go back in a month or so in order to satisfy my sweet tea cravings.
I went to the Today show the other day. It was cold, but I got paid $50 for promoting Pennsylvania by a PR firm one of the other girls works for. I almost got to meet Al Roker, but the chance slipped by. However, we're going back in a couple of weeks because we made friends with the security guys, and they said they would hook us up.
I've been watching a lot of Scrubs because my roommmate has every season on DVD.
I can't wait for Deathly Hallows!!
Work is awesome. Sometimes it gets a little boring, but I also have time to do homework. I like all of the people I work with. They're fun.
We went to a bar the other day. It was neat because they also had a dance floor, but it wasn't quite like a full out dance club. Their drink prices weren't too bad either.
Yesterday, I witnessed the nerdiest thing ever. The Landmark Sunshine showed Batman (1989, Tim Burton) at midnight. We were (oddly enough), the first ones in line. The guys behind us were the biggest nerds ever. My roommate was surprised that when I started talking to them, they were able to talk back competently. There were about six girls in the whole theater. Before the film, I talked to the random Jewish boy next to me and his friends. Most of his friends were drunk, and he was getting there. Oh, and they were all wearing their yamakas. It was an interesting evening.
I couldn't possibly write down everything I've done here, but I know that I never want to leave. Unfortunately, I'll have to go back to Texas in a few months until I graduate. Hopefully I'll be able to get a decent job in NY and a nice little box to live in.
I'm happy the Colts won.
