The past few days have been crazy awesome.

On Thursday, my parents and I went to see Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! taped live in Bethesda. I was praying that Mo Rocca would be there - and he was! It was so cool to see the way they do the show and to see how the panelists, hosts, etc all act and look in person. There was a lot of funny stuff that they cut out of the show (which aired this morning here). Mo Rocca went on this huge tangent about the Queen and they kept a part of it he thought would never air, which is awesome. XD

After the show, because my parents' friend works for the NPR affiliate here, we got to go into the reception and meet everyone. I met Mo Rocca and got my picture with him, Carl Kasell (the announcer) grabbed my arm and squeezed it, we chatted with Roxanne Roberts and P.J. O'Rourke and then he actually got a ride home with my parents' friend. It was really fun. NPR nerds are great. Another thing that's awesome: Luis's parents were at the show as well and they saw me! They said they would've said hi, but they didn't want to interrupt. I wish they had, cos then my parents could've met them. Oh well. Soooon.

Then, yesterday, Luis and I hung out and played video games and watched nerdy online videos for a while before going to see Moonrise Kingdom!!! It is a really good movie. Very sweet and quite different from Wes Anderson's other movies. It's definitely simpler. It's most like Fantastic Mr. Fox meets The Royal Tenenbaums, I guess, and it uses his usual stylistic things to a minimum. Like, there's only one scene with slow walking, that I remember, and there aren't as many fast close-ups and things like that. It's hard to explain. But it's really good. Not better than Tenenbaums, but really good. I'd need to see it again before I could decide where to place it on my Wes Anderson Scale o' Goodness.

I can't even really decide which is my favorite anymore. They kind of all go together and can't be placed apart, you know? I've grown kind of fond of having Fantastic Mr. Fox as my everything. I might even change my header on here to it, if I stop being lazy. XD

Anyway, yes. I love Wes Anderson, my boyfriend and NPR.

mo rocca, nerdfighterlike, luis, npr, wes anderson, wait wait... don't tell me!, moonrise kingdom
