all my pretensions, all my intentions

I'm looking forward to a lot of things. Nerdy things, mostly.

At the museum on Thursday, I finally bought Gerda Weissmann Klein's book, All But My Life. This is important for a few good reasons:
+ My NaNoWriMo this year takes place during The Holocaust and this book will be highly inspirational for me. In fact, the title of my novel this year is The Disbelief In Daylight which is a piece of something Mrs. Klein said in the main exhibit's final film.

+ Her story makes me cry. It's my favorite. I remember the first time I saw it in the film. Tears were sliding down my cheeks. I was that volunteer, crying in the exhibit.
+ It came to our attention that day that the museum really needs money. Us volunteers are going to need to politely mention that visitors who want to could donate, and that the money does all go to the museum. And, because of this, I decided to go ahead and buy the book, rather than just borrowing it from my parents' friend Debbie or the library or something, because the money from the store sales goes to the museum, too.

I feel good about it. :) I'm excited to read it, even though I'm sure it'll make me cry.

So now, I have 6 Holocaust books:

1. The Pianist by Wladyslaw Szpilman
2. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
3. All But My Life by Gerda Weissmann Klein
4. The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
5. The Pink Triangle by Richard Plant (at first, I thought, "Robert Plant? ...Um, no. Pretty sure the lead singer of Led Zepplin did not write this book.")
6. a book about children in The Holocaust that I got when I first visited the museum, I think, and that I've since misplaced :( (That's not the title. XD )

I have more books about The Beatles, but still. That's a lot of literature on one subject. And I am not done.

This Thursday, I'm taking my parents to the museum again. They missed the films and the Nazi Propaganda & Daniel's Story exhibits last year. I'm looking forward to that. I know it's a strange thing to look forward to.

I'm also looking forward to Halloween and NaNoWriMo! :)

I don't really know where I was going with this. Probably just that I am a nerd and these are some more examples of how.

parents, gerda weissmann, the holocaust, writing about writing, books, halloween, nanowrimo, holocaust museum
