I wrote two entries into my notebook, yesterday and this morning. I never actually post what I write into notebooks. XD
The volunteer job at the Holocaust Museum is amazing. I love the people who work there. ♥ It's a little bit overwhelming, just cos it's new, but I feel as though I fit right in. The employees and other volunteers are so welcoming. Today, I worked with taking tickets and giving the little spiel about museum rules (no cameras, no cell phones, it's self-guided, etc.), then I worked at the information desk, answering questions. Everything went smoothly. I even grabbed a map and helped a girl, leaving the other girl who was training and our trainer amazed cos I'd acted so quickly. :] I'm a bit nervous about elevator duty, just cos I'm kind of shy and I worry about forgetting important things, but I ended up doing fine. It's kind of sad, though, cos the elevators get stuffed with people (sort of an allusion to prisoners getting stuffed various places) and everyone sort of looks at you with these confused, earnest eyes. Maybe that's part of why I was nervous.
I emailed my boss (after taking a lengthy nap) and told him that I'd go in again next Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. I might make that my schedule, unless I'm needed for more days. With the number of people who were working today, I doubt it.
I still wish I could work there as my JOB job. As a career. I am so enthusiastic about that place that I was reading my Holocaust book before and after work (on the Metro), I told people about it when I got back, I took a lengthy nap and DREAMT about it, then went on Wikipedia and looked up stuff relating to the Nazis, to match names with faces. 9_9 I am a nerd.
My mom keeps acting like this is nothing and that if I'm not getting paid, I'm not doing anything. But this will be so great for my resume and for experience. I wish I'd thought of it last year. I might have a paying job by now, if I had.
I swear, I will stop talking so much about it eventually. XD I'm just excited!
for the win,
