Damn... It's been a while since I updated this thing. Lets see here... what's new? I got a jobby that I pretty much dig over all at Switch and Data as their Facility Design Engineer... Fancy name ehh? ehh? heh The perks are very nice along with the pay. I don't have to go into the office every day if I don't want to or feel that "my productivity would be greatly complemented by a familiar system and less variables in my working enviorment." heh. I still get a kick out of what I do. I play on a computer and get paid for it... very handsomly I might add. I've had a lot of side jobs and VERY small scale IT jobs but this is the first time I actually get to do what I like to do, and get paid for it. The one thing I don't like is that I don't get alot of new projects to draw out. I've basically been going over all their drawings and looking for errors and inaccuracies with dimentions, layers, objects, ect. However I do get to spend my time on "implemental technology research" (aka: surfing Google). I've also been working on learning VB so that I can automate my job. This has been hard for me. The syntax just wasn't sticking. Everytime I look at the code it would look totally different. However I think I'm progressing. I think I might take a VB course at JC next semester. I really want to learn C++ though. VB is alot easier but it's limited in what I want to do. The main reason I want to learn C++ is so I can encrypt the code. If I can develop a couple backbone systems for S&D that would be more user friendly then the system they are using (which sucks), and do it on my own time then, then basically they will be paying me weekly for use of my code. Oh yes, my Costa Rica plan is comming into effect.
On another note I went out for the first time in quite a while the other night. Didn't really do much though. Kevin and I went to Shanannigins and grubbed out then went to Borders where I annoyed him by cotemplating what VB book to get. haha... After that was done and over with I got a call from Jacob saying that he needed some help with his computer. I had my shit in my car so I just stopped by. I walk in the door and he says "We ran a virus scan. What are Trojans?" HAHA... turns out he had like 30 trojans, a couple dozen worms, and yea... it was fucked. So I backed up what files he wanted to keep and did an easy ol' install of XP... Or so I thought. DAMN FUCK SHIT DELL!!!!! I installed it 2 times and got errors and shit every time. Turns out his CD drive was bad and not reading the ALL the info correctly. It would install windows, but when windows would start up you couldn't do anything except use Explorer.EXE. Actually the only executables that would run were the ones native to XP. So I finally tried another cd drive that I had installed a while back and it worked. However getting the drivers in was a fucking chore. UGH... but its all up and running just as slow as ever... heh... The thing will run a program but has rediculusly slow HDD access time. I guess Dell fucked them with some old ass one when they bought the system. With a new HDD and another stick of 128... haha... they should be good to go. At least they could run an anti-virus program on their system then.
Ok well enough of that for now. I think I'm going to go fix my sticking valve in my truck now...
