Kick ass man... With a little help from my buddies down at
Fiberglass Coatings I was able to locate a supplier of quality Extruded Polystyrene foam. This foam has a 0% absorbtion rate which is perfect if a board ever happens to get a ding in it. Its a bit more for a sheet but they have readily available 4'x 8'x 4" sheets which means no more glueing 2" sheets together. A 4'x8'x4" runs about 70 bucks but it looks like I can get 2 boards up to about 9'6"x 24". So it looks like I can start shaping an actual marketable board that has definite surpreme characteristics over most boards. According to all the specs the boards I'll be shaping will be lighter, more bouyant, and up to 100% stronger. Plus its still a little cheaper then using Clark Foam. Total cost is about $130 per 9' board if purchased for each board. Of course I can save a little by buying in bulk. But I'm not into making all that many boards. And not that I'm trying to get into the buisness or anything but I have a couple local buisness already intrested in purchasing a few for use as rentals. ehh... Oh yea... I'm getting a bad-ass hot knife from Mr. Dudie at FGCI too... :-D
On another note it seems that I have unintentially marketed a produck on my car over the past year that people want to purchase. I keep getting people asking if I can make them a body kit for their car... of course my response has alwasy been "no" due to the intensive labor involved... just wouldn't be profitable. But since I have recentally found a company that shapes EPS (expanded polystyrene), which is basically standard syrofoam, by use of CAD. Which means I can easilly design a bumper or sideskirts and have it shaped VIA machine. Then just lay a couple layers of glass down and whala!!! All the shaping and forming will be no more. Of course I'm not going into the buisness of custom body parts but I might just do it on the side for some extra dough... ehh... that is all...
