At some point last night, I must have lost my cotton pickin' mind.
This morning, the kids were pretending to be chefs-- bakers, actually-- so I decided, what the hell, let's cook something. It had to be something relatively quick, so I looked around and found a package of chocolate chips in the pantry.
So we made cookies. They helped. It wasn't quite "helped," but it was close. They measured out the sugar, put the baking soda and salt in the flour, fetched and carried, counted eggs, even put in the chips. I mixed. I portioned. I baked, obviously. They ate cookies.
It was a little messy, because Sean, especially, spilled some sugar, but hey, that's why I was having them measure on the placemats.
We had a heck of a time, though. It was fun.
Then we went and got the boys' hair cut. We'd gone way too long between haircuts; they looked like sheepdogs. There's no school today for parent teacher conferences, so it was a good time to get it done. Usually we do it in the evenings so Matt can come and be helpful supervising, but it's awkward scheduling around dinner. I've taken them myself before, so I just went ahead and got it done today. They look much more civilized.
Had lunch at the Olive Garden. Nice time, but Sean was mouthy and squirmy. That got a little old. Then, although I had asked them if they needed to go before we left the resteraunt, Sean decided to have a bathroom emergency at the worst possible spot on the route home.
Anyway, Sean's napping, Ian's coloring on the Aquadoodle, and I'm going to take a rest.
