Week 1, Day 1
Highlights from my first day of student teaching:
+I got a gift bag containing a "teacher starter kit" (red pens, post-it notes, paperclips, etc.) from my host teacher.
+I have my own desk at the front of the room (it's not full-size, but still SWEET!) with a beautifully-penned "Miss Gockel" sign on it.
+My host teacher is 24, and totally rad.
+I got out of school early today because my teacher decided to skip her planning period.
+When I walked into my classroom, there were 46 welcome letters from my students waiting for me on my desk.
Lowlights of today:
-Cody kept farting all throughout reading class, which was a major distraction to the other students.
Maybe student teaching won't kill me after all.

Oh, and also, a fun game:
Ground Rules: The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 weird habits of yours" and people who get tagged need to write an LJ entry about their 5 quirky habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names.

1) Ok, this is by far the weirdest habit anyone has ever had, and I challenge you to give me a weirder one: I like to crack my joints, but not as much as I like to crack OTHER people's joints. Yeah, I'm gross.
2) I hum absentmindedly, sometimes without even realizing I'm doing it until someone points it out and asks me to stop because it's annoying.
3) I finally stopped biting my fingernails a few years ago, but I still chew my cuticles. Again, I'm way gross.
4) I don't know if it's considered a habit per se, but I do it often and it is pretty quirky: I hunt zombies in a silly (read: lame) online game which I'm completely addicted to.
5) I think I quote the show "Scrubs" too often. I mean, it may not be annoying to someone who is as appreciative of the show as Karen or me, but all those quotes (which make no sense out of context) might be super obnoxious to the average layman.
