I would go with 3...and then if he won't, I would take the antipsychotic just so you can get SOME relief.

# 3 sounds good and if that doesnt work try # 1...he is the dr. but his job is to respect your wishes...print out what you posted in LJ and take it with you. Good luck....keep us updated!

Thanks. I called the pdoc this morning - or tried to - he's out of town until after the holidays [and they don't know if he'll be back early or later next week...]. So I'm somewhat stuck. I'm calling my family doctor person to tell her about the pdoc's reaction and ask her again to help me get some sleep...[since she's the reason that I went to the pdoc to begin with - she wouldn't prescribe me because I'm bipolar...]
